So you’re interested in having your elopement or small wedding in Temecula, but you have no idea where to start. That’s exactly what I am here to do – provide you with my top 5 outdoor location idea in Temecula.
Glen Arbor Park, Murrieta
This park is a great option if you’re looking for a larger, outdoor area. My husband and I even considered doing our “minimony” here because there is plenty of room and great background options – and on that note, we did take our engagement photos here… peep some of those photos! Our engagement photo photographer was Ardor Photo.
From the lushes green trees, to the trees with leaves that look similar to weeping willows, to other trees that have some birch vibes – there are plenty of options to choose from 🙂
Harveston Lake, Temecula
This park is a great option for anyone looking for a more elegant look. The lake is very large and there are plenty of grassy areas to find around it. One of my very good friends took her wedding photos there when she got married during COVID in April! The sunset is usually perfect at this park, and like I said, this is another really great, large outdoor area!
The wedding photos of them in the carousel were taken by Gabi Adams.
An Open Field, Murrieta/Temecula
If you’re looking for a more open concept with your outdoor location ideas, there are PLENTY of open fields to choose from out here! This particular one pictures is great because it’s hidden behind a neighborhood so it’s more secluded and private 🙂 There is plenty of space at this location too – just plan for lots of sticks, loose dirt, and twigs on the ground!
Santa Rosa Plateau, Murrieta
This is also a very open location, and very very large as it’s acres upon acres of land. The only thing with this location is that it is heavily patrolled by park rangers, so you would definitely probably need to ask for a permit to have your celebration there. They are also pretty strict about “staying on the trail,” so if you really wanted to venture off the path, you would have to find a pretty secluded part to do that! This location is also a little finicky in that if there is any sort of severe weather change, they can close it without notice. We recently had fires there in the last few years, and for a long time they closed it to the public to allow the land to recover. All that to say, it’s BEAUTIFUL! But do your research beforehand – don’t just show up.
Old Town Temecula, Temecula
Old Town Temecula offers a lot more architecture/urban vibes to your setting! It’s a pretty popular area regardless of what day of the week you go (just because there are restaurants and little shops that line the entire location). But if you’re looking for some old, character infused buildings to play off of – this is a great spot! It also has a large bridge that can act as a backdrop for your photos. Tons of coffee shops and cute little nooks and corners are here!
I haven’t shot there yet – most of my couples enjoy being in nature 😉 – but check out this photographer’s session there to give you an idea of what’s there! A quick google search will also show you the options 🙂
BONUS SPOTS:
Wineries, Temecula
I included this in these options because if you’re just looking for location ideas (not necessarily a spot for the ceremony) then wineries are definitely a great option! Most of them are obviously free to enter and walk the vineyards, plus if you’d like to take some photos relaxing and enjoying a great glass of wine — this is truly a great option for you! I don’t suggest these locations for ceremonies because you will most likely have to pay to do that because at that point the winery considers itself a venue. But you might be able to get away with taking portraits of you both in your clothes 🙂
Airbnbs, Murrieta/Temecula
I included this option too incase you were looking for an outdoor location to hold a ceremony. I obviously suggest touching base with the Airbnb owner before deciding to do a wedding there 😉 but they truly are great options for small ceremonies! The views in Temecula Airbnb’s really can’t be beat!
Well there you have it! My top 5 (plus a couple other options) outdoor location ideas in the Temecula/Murrieta area!
