Shutters on the Beach was the perfect venue for Nick & Carla as we also did their engagement session on the beach and they are huge beach lovers. They absolutely rocked my socks the whole time I was working with them. From engagement to wedding day, they are the picture of devotion and love for one another.
Let me tell you a story… earlier this year I got an inquiry from the sweetest couple. Carla let me know from the start what her vision was, and I photographed their engagement session at El Matador Beach in Malibu. When we were talking about locations and timing she also mentioned that one of her and Nick’s favorite free time activities was throwing a frisbee. So during their engagement session they brought a frisbee and threw a few tosses to each other. I thought that was the cutest thing ever and filed it away in the back of my mind.
When Carla reached out again about photographing their big day, I knew exactly what I was going to do. I went online, found a site to customize a frisbee, and got it ordered! I was so excited to surprise them with it on their wedding day and planned to give it to them during romantics so they could have some fun throwing it then as well! Next to the obvious fact that they got married, I definitely enjoyed surprising them with a custom frisbee.
The sole purpose of what I’m trying to convey here is simply my philosophy. My couples are more than just another calendar block filled or another wedding to edit. My couples are the most special and amazing people on this planet, and if I can make them feel even a little bit special and valued and HEARD and SEEN on their wedding day – you best believe I’m gonna go find creative ways to do that! Because I believe in service – in the truest form of the word. Service means doing more than doing what’s listed on the packages, it means being selfless with my time and energy to help make this the best day of your life.
