Hillary and Chris Soriano tied the knot at LUCE on Kettner in San Diego, California, while simultaneously filming their first independent film, “The Wedding Hustler.” Hillary and Chris are a San Diego couple who experienced firsthand the challenges of planning a wedding during the pandemic after rescheduling their wedding date twice. With little to no experience in the film industry, the two wrote, directed, and starred in the film to inspire other couples to actively pursue planning their dream wedding, even if it means a little hustling is required.

The Wedding Hustler is a Fil-Am movie that follows Chris’ journey to planning a surprise wedding for his fiance while navigating the pressure of finding a venue, vendors, and more during the pandemic.

As the photographer featured in the film for capturing their wedding day and the behind-the-scenes content, I can say it was the greatest blessing to meet Hillary and Chris and be a part of their love story and filmmaker journey.

Highlighting the Filipino Culture

Regarding their special day, Hillary and Chris chose a cultural wedding that highlighted their Filipino – American culture. Their wedding ceremony occurred in a San Diego Catholic church where the couple said “I do” in front of joy-filled family and friends. Hillary and Chris chose the LUCE on Kettner for their reception, a gorgeous open-space warehouse venue perfect for any couple who wants the creative space to create the wedding of their dreams. Chris and Hillary did just that.

Each table was decorated with champagne linen that complimented the lavender, purple, and blush floral color palette found on each table centerpiece and in Hillary’s stunning floral bouquet. Bridesmaids wore champagne-colored dresses similar to Hillary’s white off-the-shoulder bridal gown, including a stylish a-line split and cultural embroidery. As for Chris and the groomsmen, each wore the traditional white Filipino Barong Tagalog and classic black pants.

Love On and Off Set

The love and support surrounding Hillary and Chris’ wedding made their wedding day even more special. Family and friends gave heartfelt speeches, and everyone danced the night away.
