In late October, Jon and Celeste had a sweet gathering with their closest family and friends in the Old Cactus Garden in Balboa Park to say ‘I do!’ The Old Cactus Garden, which has been around since 1935, features larger than life cacti and succulents and was an ideal location to hold their untraditional elopement. Jon and Celeste’s matching Doc Marten shoes were a fun pop against the soft desert background and their choice for a darker wardrobe palette was both unique and very personalized. I always make sure to give those unique details extra love and attention! Plus, they included their charming dogs in the ceremony, and who doesn’t love a couple dogs at a wedding?!
More now than ever, I am seeing couples forego traditional wedding customs for more personalized and intimate ceremonies. Having a smaller wedding allows you to give more thought to the details and traditions you want to include or exclude and it gives you the freedom to start your own traditions. Jon and Celeste embraced this freedom and I’m so grateful they chose me to photograph their special day!
